Stacey Christie, of Windsor Locks, a veterinary medicine major at Connecticut State Community College (CT State) Asnuntuck, has been named a 2026 New Century Transfer Scholar and will receive a $2,750 scholarship from Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) international honor society.

The New Century Transfer Scholar program recognizes exceptional students based on academic achievement, leadership, and service. More than 2,300 students from nearly 1,400 community college campuses nationwide were nominated for the 2026 awards.

Stacey’s dedication is not just reflected in what she accomplishes, but in the consistency, heart, and integrity she brings every single day. Her unwavering leadership and commitment set her apart, and it is through this hard work and perseverance that she has earned a New Century Transfer Pathway scholarship,” said PTK New England Regional Coordinator Thayre Trzepacz.

Christie serves as president of the campus PTK chapter at CT State Asnuntuck and has demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing student food insecurity. She has played a leadership role in supporting the campus food pantry, organizing volunteers, and collaborating with campus leaders to provide food distribution. During a Thanksgiving food drive, she helped to lead, the pantry served more than 300 students in a single week.

Phi Theta Kappa sponsors the New Century Transfer Scholarship program in partnership with the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and The Coca-Cola Foundation.

“We congratulate Stacey Christie for receiving this prestigious scholarship, and we are honored to partner with the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and The Coca-Cola Foundation to recognize these outstanding achievements,” said Phi Theta Kappa’s President and CEO, Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner. “Scholarship programs like this are integral for creating opportunities for two-year college students to succeed and for putting college completion within reach.”

Christie was among the top-ranked transfer scholars selected from Connecticut and was recognized with other 2026 New Century Transfer Scholars in March at Phi Theta Kappa’s annual convention, PTK Catalyst, held in Baltimore, Maryland.
