CT State Northwestern will hold two Veterinary Technology program information sessions—the first on Tuesday, October 6, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Joyner Learning Center, 100 South Main Street, Winsted; the second as a virtual online session on Tuesday, November 3, 11 a.m. Both sessions require registration. Virtual attendees will receive a meeting link one week prior, and again one day prior, to the event.
Prospective students and parents will learn about the field of Veterinary Technology in general and about the Vet Tech Program at Northwestern specifically, including prerequisite coursework and the Selective Application process. The on-ground session (Oct 6 at 6:30 pm) will end with a tour of the state-of-the-art veterinary facilities at Joyner Health Sciences Center.
Trained and certified veterinary technicians are in high demand and graduate employment rates are at or near 100 percent every year. The program at CT State Northwestern can be completed in two years attending full-time and in four years attending part-time, including two externships at area veterinary clinics prior to graduation. Successful degree completion prepares students for immediate employment in veterinary practices, biomedical research, zoo/wildlife medicine, industry, military, livestock health management, and pharmaceutical sales.
