CT State Housatonic Career Closet Provides Students With Free Professional Attire

Connecticut State Community College (CT State) Housatonic’s Office of Career Services recently hosted its Spring 2026 Career Closet Days, providing students with free access to professional attire to support interview readiness and career preparation.

Held Feb. 10–11 in Lafayette Hall, the two-day event offered gently used professional clothing — including suits, blazers, dress shirts, blouses, trousers, skirts and shoes — at no cost to students.

The initiative is led by Anisha Thomas, director of Career Services, and is designed to remove financial barriers that prevent students from presenting themselves confidently and professionally to potential employers.

“The Career Closet is one way we support students as they transition from the classroom to the workplace,” Thomas said. “Access to professional attire can make a meaningful difference in how students feel and perform during interviews.”

The Career Closet Days operates each semester and relies on donations from faculty, staff and community professionals. Participation is voluntary, and students are encouraged to select items that align with their career goals.

Students who attended expressed appreciation for the program, noting increased confidence and preparedness for upcoming interviews.
