CT State Northwestern will offer health care training in a number of high-demand career fields starting in August and September.

• The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program runsSept. 15-Dec. 2 in a hybrid format with online and on-site components.
Under the direction of a licensed registered nurse, CNAs provide basic care and assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing and dressing, feeding, and monitoring of health status. Students will be trained in a state-of-the-art allied health skills lab, take lectures online, and practice their clinical skills in a long-term care setting. The cost of the program is $1,999. Students must be at least 16 years old, and criminal background checks may be required.
• The Phlebotomy Technician program is Sept. 9-Nov. 1, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The curriculum covers the technical and procedural aspects of phlebotomy including the collection of blood specimens and venipuncture using a combination of theory and hands-on instruction. Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to take the NHA certification exam. The cost of the program is $2,249. Students must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. Completed health forms, COVID-19 vaccination proof, drug testing, and criminal background check may be necessary.
• Sterile Processing classes will be held online Aug. 29-Dec. 15, with a lab option scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at CT State Northwestern. Central sterile processing technicians (CSPT) are responsible for packaging surgical instruments in hospitals, medical offices, surgical centers, and clinics. These in-demand health care professionals improve the quality of patient care by minimizing infection rates. The cost of the program is $1,999. Students must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
