Arburg Donates $13,500 Toward Middlesex Advanced Manufacturing Programs
Connecticut State Community College (CT State) Middlesex received a $13,500 contribution from ARBURG, Inc., a global leader in the manufacturing of high-quality plastic processing and injection molding machines. The funds were raised through the company’s annual charity golf tournament and reflect ARBURG’s continued commitment to manufacturing innovation and workforce development.
As a longtime advisory board member, ARBURG is a strong and consistent supporter of the CT State Middlesex Advanced Manufacturing Lab, located at 60 Daniels Street in Middletown.
“We experienced our largest enrollment to date this past semester and continue to see strong growth,” said Keith Carter, Ph.D., director of advanced manufacturing at CT State Middlesex. “This generous support from ARBURG not only strengthens our programs but also expands access to the lab for middle school students, giving them early exposure to careers in manufacturing.”
Martin Baumann, president of ARBURG, Inc., USA, presented the donation to Carter during a ceremony on Dec. 16, 2025. Chris Cambareri, director of economic development at Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce, also attended the event.
“CT State Middlesex leadership and advanced manufacturing staff extends their sincere appreciation to Martin Baumann, president of ARBURG, Inc., USA, and the entire ARBURG team for their generous support and continued partnership,” added Carter.
The funds will be administered by the Middlesex Community College Foundation.
Installed in 2024, the Advanced Manufacturing Lab features ARBURG’s Allrounder 470 E Golden Electric plastic injection molding machine. Plastic injection molding is integral to the production of everyday consumer goods, including medical components and devices, packaging, protective equipment, toys, automotive parts and more.
CT State Middlesex offers associate degree and certificate programs in plastic injection molding technology, developed in close collaboration with local plastic injection molding employers. These programs are designed to fully engage students through classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory experience, industry site visits, special events and career-focused discussions.
Students receive comprehensive, hands-on training in molding techniques, injection mold components, design principles and laboratory applications. Through lectures, readings and practical analysis, students learn to set up, operate and shut down injection molding machinery building the technical skills and industry knowledge needed for successful careers in advanced manufacturing.
The Advanced Manufacturing Lab also hosts the Workforce Alliance Skill Up for Manufacturing program, a free, five- or seven-week manufacturing training initiative that includes pre-apprenticeship hours. The spring session began on January 20, and features two weeks focused on plastics manufacturing, providing participants with valuable hands-on experience in this high-demand field.
