Electric Boat and Other Connecticut Manufacturers Have Thousands of Job Openings. This is Why It’s Hard to Fill Them.

This past winter, eight recently hired machinists at one of Connecticut’s largest manufacturers spent more than 200 hours at a school in Groton learning the fundamentals of their trade. Working with lathe and milling machines, they tackled projects that involved cutting, drilling and milling a variety of parts.
